Top Tips to Have a Great Conference Experience

Something incredible happens when we come together for a few days surrounded by our tribe at a live event. We leave inspired and rejuvenated, ready to conquer our challenges and affect positive change in our organizations.

You may not be able to do that in person this year, but we’ve worked hard to create an event that provides the same result in a virtual format. It takes some commitment from you, but the benefits will be well worth it!

Here are our top tips for getting the most out of SupportWorld Live.

1. Most importantly, BE PRESENT.

This is tougher to achieve when you’re working from a home office surrounded by work and often personal distractions – but it is critical if you want to get that “reset” that an event can provide. Turn on your out of office message, mark your calendar as busy, whatever you need to do to truly step away and immerse yourself in the experience. DO IT! You’ll be glad you did.

2. GET ORGANIZED

Spending a little time preparing can make all the difference in achieving your goals for the event. Review the agenda and add the sessions you want to attend to your schedule. Those sessions, along with any contacts you make, meetings you set up, and products and exhibitors you bookmark will all be saved under the “My Event” page.

This page becomes your easiest way to navigate the event. And if you also download the event app (look up "Enterprise IT Events - Informa" in the Apple app store or Google Play) you’ll even get reminders 10 minutes before your sessions begin.

3. BE AN ACTIVE PARTICIPANT

Don't be afraid to ask questions. You can contact our speakers through the platform, who are available to answer your questions, so don’t be shy. When you attend a video discussion group, turn on your camera and actively participate. If you see someone you want to engage with, click on their profile and make a connection so you can communicate more directly. Check out the Group Chats page, where you’ll find chat groups specific to vertical industries, topic areas, event feedback and more.

4. EXPLORE NEW TECHNOLOGIES

You may not be able to walk a show floor, but you can still stay on top of the latest products and services. Check out the exhibitors list. In each virtual booth you can get information on products, chat with staff or set up meetings and demos. Review the offerings in the Product Marketplace, Content Zone or Demo Showcase. Consider attending sponsored demos or Solutions Spotlight sessions on the program, where featured sponsors demonstrate their expertise and solutions.

5. DON’T FORGET TO HAVE FUN!

Digital fatigue is real, so we’ve added in some short trivia challenges, guided stretch breaks, even music to mix things up a bit and make it easier to stay engaged. And I hope you’ll join us with the beverage of your choice for our virtual happy hours.
