Over the past two years, the IT Service Desk at the Duke University School of Nursing has transitioned from a support group for primarily on-premises services to a team focused on a growing cloud-based infrastructure. Transitioning services from a local data center to Amazon Web Services presented some interesting challenges, ranging from a new set of 24x7 alerts to complex, container-based DevOps for a suite of in-house business apps.
